Australian Seafood    Snap Frozen   Spencer Gulf King Prawns     MSC     Wild South Seafood

  • Wild South Seafood is wild caught from Australian Southern Ocean
  • Simple, green (uncooked/raw) king size prawns are snap frozen at sea on the fishing boat, then immediately on a direct plane to Hong Kong. The highest level of quality control is maintained, ensuring presentation, flavour, and product life is preserved.
  • Even though the prawns are snap frozen when caught,  upon thawing (best to leave in the fridge to thaw for next day cooking) they will be fresher, softer and safer than a lot of other 'fresh' products that may be available. This comes with our money back guarantee.
  • The Spencer Gulf King Prawn Fishery sailed into the history books with a series of firsts in sustainability in November 2011. Represented by the Spencer Gulf and West Coast Prawn Fisherman’s Association (SGWCPFA), this fishery is the first prawn fishery in the Asia Pacific, and the first king prawn fishery in the world, to gain the prestigious Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification for sustainability.

Spencer Gulf King Prawns are treated at sea with sodium metabisulphate (preservative 223), which is global industry standard. This information is included on the product packaging labelling. This is the same as the preservative used in beer and wine making, fruit juices and bakery items. Sodium metabisulfite oxidizes in the liver to sulfate which is excreted in the urine.

Our favourite garlic king prawn recipe:

    1/2 cup olive oil

    4 garlic cloves, chopped

    1 teaspoon chilli flakes

    1 1/2 teaspoons sweet paprika

1.5kg medium green king prawns, peeled, deveined, tails intact

2 whole spring onions – chopped with mostly the white to greener parts

crusty bread, to serve or add to a steaming bowl of freshly cooked brown rice

    Cooking method:

    Step 1

Combine oil, garlic, chilli and paprika in a large saucepan. Heat over medium heat for 3 minutes or until oil becomes aromatic. Increase heat to high.

    Step 2

Add prawns. Cook, stirring, for 3 to 4 minutes or until prawns begin to turn red and are cooked through. Remove from heat. Toss through parsley. Spoon prawn mixture into bowls. Serve with crusty bread or service on top of a bowl of rice.
